How do I create an App-Specific Password in my Zoho Account

How do I create an App-Specific Password in my Zoho Account?

Steps to Create an App-Specific Password in Zoho

  1. Log in to your Zoho Account

  2. Access Security Settings

    • Click on your profile picture (top right).

    • Choose My Account.

    • In the left menu, select Security.

  3. Go to App Passwords

    • Under Security, look for App Passwords (sometimes under the section Multi-Factor Authentication or 2FA).

  4. Generate a New Password

    • Click Generate New Password.

    • Enter a label/name for the app (e.g., “Outlook Mail”, “3CX PBX”, “Thunderbird”).

    • Click Generate.

  5. Copy the Password

    • Zoho will generate a unique 16-character password.

    • Copy it immediately — Zoho will only show it once.

    • Use this password in the external application instead of your regular Zoho password.

  6. Manage App Passwords

    • You can view, revoke, or regenerate app-specific passwords anytime from the same App Passwords section.

⚠️ Notes

  • App-specific passwords work only if Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) is enabled on your Zoho account.

  • Each app should ideally have its own app-specific password for security and easier management.

  • If you revoke an app password, the connected application will stop working until you generate a new one.
